Based at our Treforest, Pontypridd Campus, this role will provide you with an opportunity to apply your expertise in system integration, telecommunications and space systems, working within a dynamic environment that supports professional development, interdisciplinary collaboration and academic excellence.

The Research Assistant will be a key member of the project team, working exclusively on the HALEOS – High Altitude Long-Endurance Earth Observation System, and contributing to the successful delivery of its research objectives. We are seeking an individual who is enthusiastic, highly motivated and committed to producing high-quality research outputs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and a genuine interest in supporting innovative, impactful research. A proactive and collaborative attitude is essential, along with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability and a willingness to engage with project partners and stakeholders are key to succeeding in this role. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop specialist expertise while contributing to a forward-thinking and industry-engaged research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work exclusively on the HALEOS project and contribute to the delivery of its research objectives.
  • Apply expertise in system integration, telecommunications and space systems within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with project partners and stakeholders to support research activities and outcomes.

This is a full-time fixed-term post for a period of 16 months, until March 2027.
