Reporting to the Associate Dean Partnerships and Business Development, the External Relationship and Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting partnerships across the Higher Education (HE), Further Education (FE), and industry sectors. This role is central to the faculty’s engagement with external stakeholders — including industry, community organisations, the third sector, schools and colleges (including USW’s Strategic Alliance), and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs). The postholder will bring substantial experience in navigating the complexities of HE/FE and HE/industry collaboration, ensuring that partnerships are not only operationally sound but also aligned with USW’s Vision 2030’s goals for widening participation, enhancing employability, and driving regional and national growth.
Responsibilities
- Contributing to the development and management of external relationships and partnerships with HE/FE institutions, industry partners, schools and colleges, and PSRBs.
- Ensuring partnerships are operationally sound and aligned with the university’s strategic objectives.
- Supporting engagement activities to widen participation and enhance employability in line with Vision 2030.

Benefits on offer include 35 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and closure days, family friendly policies and generous pension scheme. The university is operating a hybrid-model of working; however, the successful candidate would be expected to work on campus for part of the week.
