The University of Sheffield is launching exciting new modules and degree programmes in September 2026 and we are seeking an additional team member to join us to help develop and deliver our innovative undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. In this role, you will specifically contribute to the development and delivery of our financial accounting teaching, with an emphasis on specialist auditing modules, within our integrated undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum. You will be a key member of the curriculum design team, working with colleagues from all accounting and financial management themes. You will also develop your administrative experience through taking a key course level role.
Candidates for this post should have experience of delivering financial accounting and auditing teaching, through lectures, workshops and seminars, in a Higher Education setting. Candidates should also show a commitment to developing their national and/or international profile in Accounting education. A commitment to fresh thinking, flexibility and adaptability in approach are more essential to this role. Based in the Sheffield University Management School, you will join a vibrant community of teachers and researchers building the discipline of Accounting. Main duties and responsibilities
- Working with the Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) Subject Group, develop and deliver financial accounting and auditing teaching within the School's taught programmes, ensuring that it is accessible, inclusive and contributes to the University's Teaching and Learning Strategy.
- Improve and enhance the student experience and student outcomes through programme delivery based on a detailed understanding of student needs and professional requirements.
- Behave ethically in all aspects of your role and act as a role‑model for our students.
- Undertake scholarship activities in Accounting and Financial Management Education, appropriate to the role, that have a positive impact on student outcomes and are influential on a national / international level.
- Engage in recruitment and outreach activities which may include activities outside standard working hours, for example Open Days.
- Engage in core administrative areas to support the delivery of the AFM programmes e.g. student advising and mentoring.
- Provide effective line management where required.
- Represent the institution with external stakeholders (within and outside the profession) to foster collaboration, at a regional or national level as required.
- Work according to University quality assurance processes and other regulatory frameworks including Professional Regulatory bodies e.g. ACCA, CIMA.
- Actively contribute to the collective interests and values of the University through individual action and inclusive, collaborative working.
- Make a full and active contribution to the principles of the 'Sheffield Academic'. These include the achievement of excellence in applied teaching and research, and scholarly pursuits to make a genuine difference in the subject area and to the University's achievements as a whole.

- A PhD (or equivalent relevant experience) in a relevant subject.
- Experience of teaching Accounting, Financial Management in a Higher Education environment.
- Teaching qualification e.g. FHEA, PGCert Higher Education or evidence of working towards.
- Experience of working and communicating with a team of staff.
- Experience of developing strong working relationships with partners within and external to Higher Education.
- Ability to develop creative approaches to problem solving.
- Experience of working independently on project activities.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and effective IT skills.
