We have an exciting opportunity in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering for a dedicated Postdoctoral Research Associate joining our projects on 3D Concrete Printing funded by the Royal Society and EPSRC. These collaborations with Cardiff University (UK), Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and Hyperion Robotics UK Ltd aim to enhance construction productivity using state‑of‑the‑art 3D‑concrete‑printing technology and reduce environmental footprints by using advanced low‑carbon geopolymer concrete materials.
Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule, and conduct experimental work according to the project plan.
- Investigate and develop the properties of 3D‑printed concretes.
- Evaluate the mechanical, durability and structural performance of 3D‑printed concrete materials and structures at various length scales.
- Analyze and interpret experimental results, monitor progress, and discuss findings in supervisory meetings.
- Prepare reports and peer‑reviewed scientific papers describing research outcomes for publication and presentation at conferences.
- Collaborate with international partners and contribute to joint research outputs.
Qualifications
- PhD in concrete technology, materials science, civil engineering or related field.
- Good knowledge of concrete technology, geopolymer concrete materials and 3D‑concrete‑printing technology.
- Demonstrated experience conducting independent experimental research studies in this field.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple experimental projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of peer‑reviewed publications.

This is a fixed‑term position for a maximum duration of 9 months full‑time or part‑time equivalent, ending on or before 31 March 2027. There is a potential extension of the post for an additional 3 months until 30 June 2027.
