The University of Salford has an exciting opportunity for an Asbestos Manager to join our growing, ambitious and diverse team. The Asbestos Manager shall be experienced and highly competent to lead the strategic and operational management of asbestos across all of its estate. This critical role will ensure full compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, providing assurance to the University as Duty Holder that asbestos risks are effectively identified, managed and controlled.
You will act as the University’s subject-matter expert, overseeing the asbestos management plan, surveys, risk assessments and contractor performance, while embedding best practice across Estates & Facilities operations. This role, while positioned within the Estates and Facilities Directorate (E&FD), has responsibilities that span across the entire University. The post-holder is expected to provide expertise, guidance, and advice to ensure a safe and compliant environment for all academic, student, professional service, and visitor-related activities.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the University maintains high levels of statutory compliance maturity, excellent governance, and clear and accurate evidence of compliance performance. Salford operates a Hybrid working model (minimum of three days per week onsite, subject to business demands) and there may be a requirement to work evenings and weekends, as the business demands.
About Estates and Facilities Services: Utilising the resources of some 300 directly employed staff, supported by numerous external contractors, Estates & Facilities is responsible for delivering a full estates and facilities management service to the University, including capital development and property maintenance.
