Opportunity Overview

Playing key role in managing the legal services team and protecting the University\βs position from a legal perspective.
This role deputises for and supports the Director in managing the University\βs legal affairs, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, and providing strategic legal advice across the institution. This role involves leading legal initiatives, managing legal risks, and overseeing the delivery of legal services to support the University\βs objectives; delivering professional legal advicetotheChiefAcademicServicesOfficerandUniversitySecretary,theUniversityLeadershipTeam, and all academic and management units of the University. The role encompasses the management of team members including lawyers and those responsible for data protection and information governance.
Key Responsibilities
- EnsurethattheUniversityiscompliantwithallrelevantlegislationandprovideadviceandexpertise to resolve legal issues as they arise.
- KeepuptodatewithlegaldevelopmentsandchangesoflegislationaffectingtheUniversitys operationsandactivitiesandproactivelyadvisingtherelevantcolleaguesofimplicationsand necessary action to be taken.
- Manage the Universitys compliance with the following University policies: Whistleblowing Policy and procedures,theModernSlaveryAct,DataProtection,CounterterrorismandSecurityActand Freedom of Speech.
