We're looking for a personable, knowledgeable and proactive governance professional to join the University Secretary's Office. You'll play an important role supporting transparency, accountability and strategic decision‑making at the University in rapidly changing internal and external environments. Managing a portfolio of committees, your expertise will help uphold robust governance standards, foster trust amongst key stakeholders, and enable innovation that drives long‑term success. You'll show your commitment to service excellence through collaboration, communication and contribution.
Key responsibilities
- Servicing a busy and varied portfolio of senior committees (University Council, Senate, Executive), delivering quality assurance and ensuring compliance with the University's framework of corporate and academic governance, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Provide effective support in recruitment, election, induction, development, and skills audit of internal and external committee members.
- Provide effective support in the University's programmes of academic audit, internal audit and external audit, and governance effectiveness reviews.
- Contribute to the development and advancement of governance policy and practice at the University, including providing University‑wide training in committee servicing and handling.
- Active involvement and collaboration with the University community in delivery of its strategy and values.
About the Department
The University Secretary's Office (USO) supports the University Secretary in ensuring the proper conduct of business and the integrity of governance at the University. The USO is a small high‑functioning team who, together with our wider colleagues, facilitate and enable the University's strategic, statutory and regulatory affairs.
