Fixed term to 31 July 2028. We are looking for an analytically minded and sustainability-driven individual to join us as an Assistant Carbon and Energy Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about energy management, carbon reduction, data analysis, and building performance to support the University of Salford's ambitious Net Zero Carbon 2038 commitment. Working closely with the Carbon and Energy Manager, you will help monitor and analyse energy and water usage, support decarbonisation projects, and contribute to improvements across our estate. Key Responsibilities
- Analyse energy, water and carbon data using meter readings, BMS systems and supplier information to identify trends, anomalies or optimisation opportunities.
- Support energy-efficiency and carbon-reduction projects, including documentation, data gathering, and progress monitoring.
- Contribute to utilities budget support through invoice validation, forecasting and reporting.
- Assist with maintaining the University’s ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 Environmental and Energy Management System, ensuring compliance and high-quality reporting.
- Collaborate with Estates & Facilities colleagues to identify improvements in maintenance, refurbishment and building performance, supporting our journey to Net Zero Carbon.
About the Department
The Estates & Facilities Division plays a central role in delivering the University of Salford's Sustainable Campus ambitions and our commitment to reach Net Zero Carbon by 2038. With around 300 staff and a broad range of responsibilities, from capital development and utilities management to campus services and green-space stewardship, the division ensures our campus is functional, future-focused and environmentally responsible. The Environmental Sustainability Team sits within this division, driving innovation and continuous improvement across energy, carbon and environmental performance. By maintaining our Environmental and Energy Management System and supporting major programmes including the Campus Connectivity Plan and Buildings Decarbonisation Plan, the team helps shape a resilient, low-carbon campus aligned with our strategic vision Innovating to Enrich Lives.
