The role of Assistant Management Accountant will be the direct support for a number of professional service departments and will report directly to the Finance Manager. The Finance Division is responsible for the overall financial management of the institution including subsidiaries. The division provides a full range of financial services to the university, including management and financial accounting services. The University has devolved systems of planning and budgeting, and the Finance Division works closely with Academic Colleges and Professional Services to maximise the opportunities for the University within an appropriate control environment. The Division maintains and develops the central finance systems, Unit4, and provides on-line access together with training.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Finance Manager in the delivery of high-quality services to the University
- Assist with budget setting, budget monitoring, reporting of performance, transactional support, and provision of high-quality financial advice
- Be proactive and able to work in a fast-paced commercial setting to support the achievement of agreed business plans
- Preparation of financial forecasts and analysis
- Hold regular budget review meetings with stakeholders
About the Department
The University of Salford’s Finance Department is responsible for the overall financial management of the institution and its subsidiaries. The department is made up of a team of 70 staff and provides a full range of financial services to the University. We work closely with Academic Units and Professional Services to maximise opportunities and ensure financial sustainability.
