The Role
We are recruiting to the role of Technical Assistant (Education and Engineering) to join our technical service as part of an integrated University-wide technical team. The post holder will have the opportunity to make an impact as part of the established team supporting the practical areas within the School of Education and within the newly opened Sustainable Engineering and Technology Centre (SETEC).
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the day-to-day running and maintenance of the teaching workshops and labs.
- Prepare and set out equipment for practical teaching.
- Support staff in the use of specialist resources and share responsibility for safely clearing away resources at the end of taught sessions.
- Ensure that materials are ordered, prepared and available to support practical teaching.
- Display a good working knowledge of health and safety in a technical environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Skills and experience in a variety of DT and food technology equipment and machinery.
- Flexible and proactive with a hands-on approach.
- Experience of delivering excellent customer service with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Previous experience of providing technical support in a similar environment is desirable.
Working Arrangements
This position is available full time, but applications for term-time only would be considered.
