Main duties and responsibilities
Provide clear academic and people leadership to a department of c.40 academic staff, fostering a positive, inclusive and high‐performing culture.
Lead workload planning, performance management, and staff development, ensuring expectations are clear, fair and aligned to Faculty priorities.
Be accountable for the quality of teaching, assessment and curriculum design across the department\’s portfolio.
Ensure programmes remain current, inclusive and aligned with employer and professional expectations.
Lead the development and delivery of a clear departmental plan aligned to Faculty and University strategy.
Manage departmental resources effectively, including staffing and budgets, to ensure financial sustainability.
Contribute actively to the Faculty Leadership Team, supporting Faculty‐wide initiatives and collective decision‐making.
Represent the Faculty internally and externally as required.
Maintain appropriate engagement with employers, professional bodies and external partners to support curriculum relevance and student employability.
Contribute personally to scholarship, research, knowledge exchange or professional practice, appropriate to the seniority of the role.
