Highland Hospital, a 261 bed community teaching hospital and affiliate of the University Of Rochester Medical Center, is recruiting for Surgical Techs to join our team and support its expansion. The Highland Hospital Operating Room offers a fast paced, exciting, and collaborative work environment. Become part of a team where cutting edge technology is used and surgeries are performed daily in our recently expanded facility which features 15 state of the art operating rooms.
The Surgical Tech plays a vital role in the OR and is relied upon for their professional judgement and critical thinking skills. We are seeking candidates who are able to work full time day/evening rotation Monday through Friday plus call with peers for nights, weekends & holidays. A Surgical Technologist is a member of the surgical team who works with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care. The Surgical Technologist has specific responsibilities before, during and after surgery to assure patient safety and enhance positive outcomes.
PAY RANGE: $27.00 - $32.11
*The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Job Requirements
- Education: Fulfills the educational requirements for completion of a nationally and NYS accredited educational program for surgical technologists and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); or is otherwise qualified per the NYS Public Health Law (i.e., candidate provides evidence that he/she worked as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring within the four years immediately prior to the effective date of January 1, 2015; candidate provides evidence of completing a military surgical technology program). Associates degree preferred.
- License/Certification Required: American Heart Association BLS CPR Certification required; certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (unless otherwise qualified per the NYS Public Health Law).
- Skills: Aseptic Technique and in-depth knowledge of surgical equipment highly desirable. Good communication, positive attitude, team-player. Ability to maintain composure in stressful and/or emergency situations.
