The Nurse Breast Navigator is a key member of the multidisciplinary team and serves as a facilitator of care across the Comprehensive Breast Care Program within the UR Medicine system. Acts as a single point of contact for referring providers, patients, and caregivers by coordinating access to clinical and supportive services and facilitating the timely scheduling of diagnostic and specialty appointments across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • The Nurse Breast Navigator serves as an enterprise care coordinator, collaborating with affiliate locations to facilitate and provide resources for patients, nursing staff, physicians, and their office teams, as well as pre-surgical screening services, ancillary hospital departments, and community providers.
  • The primary focus is on coordinating care for high-risk and newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
  • This role ensures adherence to defined standards across all episodes of care, including screening, assessment, care planning, and patient education—while proactively managing communication and coordination to support safe, efficient, and timely care throughout the continuum.

Salary

Salary range: $77,220-$93,600 Annually. The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Fulfilled the educational requirements to be a licensed RN in NYS. BSN preferred.
  • Experience: At least 2 to 3 years in Breast Imaging or Medical Surgical experience preferred. Previous managerial and process improvement experience a plus.
  • License/Certification Required: Licensure as an RN in state of New York. Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED for professional Rescuers and Healthcare providers) upon hire. When CPR Renewal due, American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers only certification accepted.
  • Skills: Ability to perform under stress, able to multi-task, capable of working with people who may be situationally demanding. Ability to defuse or cope with anger and hostility of others. Clinical information systems, computer skills with Microsoft Office.
