Job Description

Highland Family Medicine is seeking FNP Residents for its 2026‑27 class. Candidates will enroll in a 1‑year FNP residency with our Highland Family Medicine team, beginning the first week of September 2026 and running through August 31, 2027. Upon completion, candidates may have the opportunity to remain a permanent FNP.

This is an Advanced Nurse Education Nurse Practitioner Residency funded position. Completion may qualify the resident for loan forgiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in precepted continuity clinics, attending to patients across the lifespan.
  • Deliver care in accordance with professional Nurse Practitioner standards and Family Medicine guidelines, protocols, and procedures.
  • Adhere to state and federal laws, DEA regulations, and the New York State Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act.
  • Participate in structured post‑graduate residency training, including rotations in specialty clinics, weekly learning sessions on complex clinical challenges, chronic disease management, inter‑professional population health projects, didactic leadership training, and quality improvement (QI) cycles.
  • Learn practice call in a supportive environment; practice call begins about four months into the program and runs each month over a six‑month duration.

  • Official graduate school transcripts.
  • A personal statement, including future professional goals.
  • Three letters of recommendation (ideally one academic and two professional) submitted to HFM_NPresidents@URMC.Rochester.edu.

Travel Provisions

Urban track residents will travel five days a year, typically to our rural health partner at TCFM in Dansville or Canaseraga, NY. Most specialty rotations are in Rochester; additional travel to Brockport or Canandaigua may also be required. Travel reimbursement is not provided for the urban track.

Salary and Compensation

Salary Range: $82,430.00 annually (grant funded). The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this position; individual salaries will be set within this range based on market data, experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
