Research at the University of Reading aims to address major global challenges across four themes: agriculture, food and health; environment; heritage and creativity; and prosperity and resilience. Our interdisciplinary work spans continents and explores solutions for climate change, health improvement, food security, and cultural understanding.

Focusing primarily on the Prosperity and Resilience theme, you will contribute to developing high-quality research grant applications and generating research income. The Assistant Research Development Manager will support the Research Development Manager within the Prosperity and Resilience team, under the guidance of a Senior Research Development Manager, as part of the Research Development team.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Effective professional communication skills, both oral and written, with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritise tasks, and manage workload efficiently.
  • Capability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of research funding sources and mechanisms in the UK and internationally.

You will join a team dedicated to supporting researchers in developing and submitting high-quality research grant applications. The role is based on our beautiful Whiteknights campus, which has received 14 consecutive Green Flag awards. The university offers a generous annual leave package of 26 days plus 8 additional closure days, including bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time roles), and supports flexible working arrangements.
