The Primary Care Placements and Engagement Lead will lead the strategic development, delivery and quality assurance of Year 4 (GEM4) primary care placements, working at the interface of clinical practice and academia. The role focuses on building and sustaining strong partnerships with GP practices and primary care stakeholders across the region to ensure high‑quality, equitable and sustainable placement capacity.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the placement programme.
- Ensure alignment with curriculum outcomes, regulatory standards and workforce priorities.
- Lead placement capacity, quality improvement and stakeholder engagement to support excellent student outcomes and workforce development.
- Enhance the student experience and the programme’s reputation through innovation in placement design and delivery.
- Support integration of primary care within the undergraduate curriculum.
Qualifications
- GMC registered General Practitioner with a licence to practise medicine in the UK.
- Current clinical GP role (preferably within Hampshire or surrounding region).
- Experience in primary care teaching or curriculum development is desirable.
- Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.
- Passion for undergraduate medical education and primary care.
0.4 FTE (equivalent to 4 GP sessions); flexible working patterns with on‑campus and off‑site activity.

Application
The post is offered at 0.4 FTE (equivalent to 4 GP sessions) and is designed to offer flexibility in working patterns, with a combination of on‑campus and off‑site activity aligned to programme requirements. GPs will be appointed on the NHS GP Educator pay scale. Interviews are currently anticipated to be held on 24 June 2026.
