The Role:
The School of Film, Media, and Creative Technologies at the University of Portsmouth is a place where students and staff thrive at the intersection of cutting-edge creative and technological disciplines. Our industry-leading facilities include our state-of-the-art Centre for Creative and Immersive Extended Reality (CCIXR), as well as high end motion picture cameras, film studios and post-production software. These resources fuel dynamic collaborations and partnerships with industry leaders and empower our students and staff to achieve exceptional outcomes.
Applications are invited for the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Film Production. This is a unique opportunity for an accomplished filmmaker or industry professional to join our dynamic academic team and contribute to the delivery of our respected and accredited filmmaking programmes. We are seeking candidates with a strong industry background in film and/or television production, ideally supported by experience teaching in higher education.
We are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in filmmaking craft and production. The successful candidate will bring a blend of industry insight, creative drive, and a commitment to student-focused teaching. You will help shape and deliver engaging, practice-led learning experiences, specifically within our film production provision. A passion for enhancing the student experience and supporting learners in building their skills, confidence, and resilience is essential.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the development of innovative teaching, research, and curriculum design across our growing portfolio of successful courses.
Active involvement in school and faculty initiatives is a key aspect of the role, including building industry partnerships, promoting professional practice, and enhancing graduate employability, student enterprise, and career development. Engagement in community outreach and fostering global connections will also be crucial. The role will involve supporting research and innovation efforts to strengthen the School’s research profile.
