The Assessment Support Service Centre (ASSC) is a new initiative within the Department of Academic Services, established to coordinate all activities relating to formal assessments across the academic calendar. The Centre Manager role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of assessment and exam delivery and will suit someone who relishes a challenge and demonstrates excellent organisational, leadership, and management skills.
Working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including academic colleagues, the Centre Manager will need to demonstrate flexibility, diplomacy, and the ability to work under pressure. Together with their team, they will be responsible for delivering a consistent, high quality, student focused service throughout the academic year.
To be successful in this role, you will already have a solid understanding of, and experience in, managing complex administrative processes within a Further or Higher Education environment, along with good line management skills.
Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working is available for this role. At key points in the year – particularly during the formal assessment periods – the team, including the manager, will be required to work a greater balance of time on campus, to support effective service delivery.
This appointment is a Fixed-term contract until 12 May 2028.
