The University Of Plymouth are looking for a passionate, dedicated mental health lecturer to join our friendly and supportive team.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the School of Nursing and Midwifery as a Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing. We have a range of successful undergraduate and postgraduate nursing programmes and we are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled and motivated individual to join our friendly team. You will be supported by an experienced team, and the University is able to offer a range of development opportunities. We offer undergraduate, postgraduate and Continuing Professional Development programmes, including the only NHS England approved mental health advanced practice programme in the Southwest. Research in the School was in the REF and continues to grow. The University Clinical Schools initiative is a development, through which applied nursing and midwifery research focuses on topics that are timely and relevant to advancing the quality of care. Existing clusters of research, including Applied Health Genetics, e-health and Sustainability, Society and Health, continue to attract external funding and PhD students.
There are a total of 44.4 hours available on a permanent basis, a full-time (37 hours) position is preferred with the remaining hours taken up on a part-time basis but can be flexible.
You will:
- Contribute to the academic and clinical development of Mental Health Nursing as well as delivering cutting edge education to students across different fields of nursing practice. This will include the development and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate healthcare programmes.
- Be encouraged to contribute to research within the School and join an appropriate research group.
- Possess appropriate professional qualifications, (professional registration as mental health nurse with the NMC is a requirement) alongside relevant post registration experience.
- Have a first degree is an essential requirement and postgraduate Degree in health, or a related subject is desirable.
For this role, you will need to be on site 3 days a week. Although we can accommodate working from home for this role, flexibility to be on-site will be expected due to business needs. Due to the nature of this role, an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus a Children’s Barred List and Adults Barred List check will be required. There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport. The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.
