The Faculty of Philosophy is seeking applications for the Wykeham Professorship of Logic, available from 1 October 2026. The professorship is associated with a Professorial Fellowship at New College. The Wykeham Professor will play a leading role in research and teaching in theoretical analytic philosophy at Oxford.
We are looking for a philosopher of the highest international standing, with an outstanding record of research and publication in at least one of the following areas of theoretical analytic philosophy:
- logic
- epistemology
- metaphysics
- philosophy of language
- philosophy of mathematics
You will have a breadth of interests within theoretical analytic philosophy, and enthusiasm for engaging with those working in other areas of philosophy. You will have the ability to teach and inspire students at all levels, and the ability and readiness to undertake senior administrative roles. You will have demonstrated academic leadership of the highest quality, and be ready to represent and promote the interests of philosophy in Oxford, and to generate interest in the subject within the academic community and beyond.
