Part-time Research Assistant (Fayda Lab project)

Overview

The Blavatnik School of Government is looking to recruit a Research Assistant to contribute to a study on the uptake and impact of Ethiopia\’s national digital ID programme \’Fayda\’, which includes refugees.

Responsibilities

Your tasks will be focused on supporting the randomized controlled trial the research team is implementing to assess the impact of the national ID program for refugees.

Tasks will include data cleaning and analysis of the already collected baseline survey and implementation monitoring data, and support to the preparation of a pre-analysis plan.

Further, you will contribute to preparations for the endline survey, including supervision of data collection through high-frequency checks and data cleaning, during the initial phase, to data analysis and output drafting once fieldwork is completed.

You will work closely with field coordinators and other project staff to ensure that effective support is given to the project, as well as with the survey firm carrying out the data collection.

Government Context

The Government of Ethiopia (GoE) has been a global leader in pursuing the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF), which aims at providing a wide-ranging and predictable framework for refugee host‑community integration. To promote refugee inclusion, the GoE is including refugees in the national digital ID programme, which will ease access to public and private services.

Qualifications

Candidates should hold a Master\’s degree in economics, public policy or a related field with a focus on the development sector and strong quantitative research skills. A Bachelor\’s degree with extensive experience in data collection and analysis is also acceptable. Candidates must have experience working with survey data and implementing analysis, a strong understanding of RCTs and related methodologies, and be proficient in Stata and LaTeX. Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively and sensitively in a team are also essential.

Location: Blavatnik School of Government, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG.

Position: Fixed‑term for 6 months, part‑time at 50% FTE (18.75 hours per week).
