Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Impact and Shock Mechanics
Location: central Oxford
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Impact and Shock Mechanics Laboratory, at the Department of Engineering Science (Begbroke). The post is funded by EPSRC and is a fixed-term, 12-month position.
The research topic is Real-time X-ray imaging of strength effects under shock loading, and this work is in collaboration with Imperial College London, Oxford Physics, and the University of York.
The work will cover a cross-section of impact engineering, shock physics, and fusion science, contributing to both in-house and offsite experiments to study the properties and behavior of materials subjected to extreme conditions through hypervelocity impact.
You should possess a PhD (or be close to completion) in a relevant subject area, as well as a combination of scientific and technical skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
