Overview

We are seeking an Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to join the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) team at the Big Data Institute in Oxford.

The role will take ownership of a complex, distributed, on‑premises platform that supports business applications, databases, internal users and external‑facing services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a fully integrated infrastructure stack covering compute, virtualisation, networking, application platforms, databases, security, file systems, backups and multi‑site operations.
  • Ensure the operational reliability, performance and security of the platform.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computing, a numerate discipline or a relevant subject.
  • Substantial experience as an Infrastructure & Platform Engineer.
  • Strong technical knowledge of TCP/IP networking, troubleshooting, virtualisation platforms (KVM or equivalent) and complex server environments.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Full‑time, fixed‑term contract until 31July2028. Salary range: £39,424–£47,779 (Standard Grade7). Closing date for applications: 5August2026, 12:00noon.
