We have an exciting opportunity for the role of IBME Finance Portfolio Manager to support the Institute of Biomedical Engineering within the Department of Engineering Science. This full-time permanent role is based at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Headington. You will deliver a high quality, efficient and effective service across financial administration, financial analysis/forecasting, and financial reporting, while developing robust and efficient procedures to ensure full compliance with the University's Financial Regulations and policies.
You will support the financial aspects of rapidly growing biomedical engineering research, collaborating with Oxford departments across the MPLS and Medical Sciences Divisions, funders, industrial collaborators and government. You will contribute to financial discipline in the submission of applications and expenditure of research budgets, and help develop the financial strategy for sustainable growth of biomedical engineering research. You will work closely with the IBME Director and the IBME Administrator as part of the professional services team, providing institute-level financial reporting and forecasting. Within the wider department you will collaborate with colleagues in Research Administration, HR and Finance to provide accurate budgets and forecasts of research activity and overhead recovery.
Responsibilities- Support all financial aspects of biomedical engineering research, including financial administration, analysis, forecasting and reporting.
- Develop robust and efficient financial procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensure financial discipline in the submission of applications and in the management of research budgets.
- Contribute to the development of a financial strategy for sustainable growth of biomedical engineering research.
- Provide institute-level financial reporting and forecasting in collaboration with IBME leadership and professional services teams.
- Collaborate with departments across the University and with funders, industrial partners and government as needed.
- Work with the Finance Team, Research Administration and HR to produce accurate budgets and forecasts and oversee overhead recovery.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Full or part CCAB accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent experience in a finance role.
- Demonstrated financial aptitude with high attention to detail and ability to produce clear, concise financial/research reports.
- Proven experience in financial operations and financial management in a complex environment, including financial planning, analysis and budgetary control.
