An exciting opportunity has arisen for x2 Graduate Access Consultants to join us in the Graduate Admissions and Recruitment office to support the work of the Graduate Student Access Strategy.
Location: Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JD – some remote working is possible.
Salary: Grade 6: £35,681-41,636 (pro rata) per annum, includes Oxford University Weighting.
Contract: Part Time (up to 15 hours per week), Fixed Term Contract (6 months).

The Graduate Admissions and Recruitment (GAR) Office is part of the University’s Academic Administration Division (AAD). Oxford has over 14,000 graduate students, representing more than 50% of the full-time student population. Almost two thirds of our graduate students are from outside the UK, and are drawn from some 140 countries worldwide, demonstrating the highly international character and global reach of Oxford. Developing, coordinating and evaluating a range of graduate access and widening participation initiatives for UK and international students form key components of GAR’s work.

About the Role
This opportunity would be particularly suited to PhD/DPhil students who have some experience of running research projects, including consultation exercises, and are familiar with the experiences (academic and non-academic) of graduate students from underrepresented and/or disadvantaged backgrounds. The consultants will work with the Graduate Admissions and Recruitment Office to gather evidence, engage with students and stakeholders, and produce findings and initial recommendations on, particularly, non-academic support (although other areas of support may be included), which will inform the University’s plan of action in this area. We are looking for two individuals who have sufficient knowledge in this area of work, and are able to manage their own research and have experience of following or adapting methodologies. Excellent communication skills, including writing reports and delivering presentations, will be essential.

Skills and experience required:
- Holding an undergraduate degree.
- Strong understanding of the postgraduate student experience at Oxford, and particularly of the lived experiences of students from underrepresented and/or disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Ability to design and deliver research activities, such as surveys and focus groups.
- Experience of analysing qualitative and quantitative data.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to synthesise findings.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students at all levels.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage workload independently.
- Commitment to inclusion, equality, diversity, and improving student experience.
