We are seeking to appoint a Bioinformatics Pipeline and Data Manager to join the Multiomics Technology Platforms (MTP) headed by Dr Paolo Piazza in the Centre for Human Genetics, University of Oxford. You will play a key role in managing, developing and maintaining the computational infrastructure supporting a range of cutting‑edge multiomic technologies, including next‑generation sequencing, spatial transcriptomics and proteomics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for processing raw data generated across MTP platforms and converting it into formats suitable for downstream analysis and delivery to collaborators.
  • You will develop, maintain and optimise automated bioinformatics pipelines, integrating new tools and technologies where appropriate, and ensure that data management, storage, transfer and archival are performed securely and in accordance with institutional policies.
  • You will perform and interpret quality control analyses, generate clear QC reports, maintain accurate technical documentation and SOPs, and collaborate closely with wet‑lab scientists, bioinformaticians and project managers to support project delivery.
  • The role will also involve providing technical advice and troubleshooting support, contributing to scientific outputs such as publications and grant applications, and engaging in relevant training and public engagement activities within the Department and University.

Qualifications:

Essential requirements: MSc degree or equivalent in Human Genetics, Bioinformatics or a closely related field; proficiency in Unix and experience working within a high‑performance computing (HPC) environment; demonstrated experience building and maintaining automated workflows and pipelines using tools such as Snakemake or Nextflow; knowledge of genomics and/or multiomics technologies; experience with Python, R or related scripting languages; familiarity with data portals or LIMS integration is advantageous.

Salary and Contract:

£39,424 to £43,984 per annum (pro rata): Standard Grade 7. This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata). The position is full‑time on a fixed‑term contract for 12 months and is funded by the department.
