We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Deputy Head of Finance for a centrally based Oxford University College. The role is part-time, due to commence as soon as possible, and is offered for an initial 12-week period.
The Role
Reporting to the Bursar and working closely with the Head of Finance and HR, you will support the delivery of financial accounting and management reporting across the College. Acting as a key deputy during this period, you will help ensure continuity, accuracy and clear financial insight for senior management and budget holders. The role involves working both independently and collaboratively and uses the Mercury Academic finance system.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial processing and monthly reconciliations
- Prepare and review payroll, journals and pension contributions
- Support management accounts, budgeting, audit preparation and VAT returns
- Produce debtor, restricted fund and other financial reports as required
- Assist with Gift Aid, compliance and external relations finance matters
About You
You will have significant senior-level finance experience, strong technical accounting knowledge and advanced Excel skills. You will be proactive, highly organised and able to work accurately while engaging confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience in a collegiate or higher education environment is advantageous but not essential.
Please be aware that all candidates need to be able to start work immediately and must be able to work on site if required to do so.
