Overview

We are looking for Evening and Weekend Library Assistants to work in the historic Bodleian Old Library and Radcliffe Camera. These buildings house Humanities collections in English, History, Classics, Philosophy, Theology and Reference as well as the History Faculty Library and the Bodleian\’s Main Enquiry Desk.

Responsibilities

  • You will undertake a range of library duties including answering readers\’ and visitors\’ questions, issuing/returning items, invigilation, book replacing, supporting the book delivery process if necessary and ensuring safe evacuation of the reading rooms.
  • The role involves lifting, carrying and shelving books, and pushing trolleys.

Work patterns

These are permanent, part-time positions, with the following work patterns available:

  1. 0.226 FTE – Fortnightly Saturday (9:45am – 6:15pm) and weekly Monday (5pm – 9:15pm) x2
  2. 0.226 FTE – Fortnightly Sunday (10:45am – 7:15pm) and weekly Friday (5pm – 9:15pm)
  3. 0.226 FTE – Fortnightly Sunday (10.45am – 7.15pm) and weekly Wednesday (5pm – 9:15pm)
  4. 0.3425 FTE – Fortnightly Sunday (10.45am – 7.15pm) and weekly Wednesday and Thursday (5pm – 9:15pm)
  5. 0.3425 FTE – Fortnightly Sunday (10.45am – 7.15pm) and weekly Tuesday and Friday (5pm – 9.15pm)

Requirements

You will be reliable and punctual, be able to undertake routine tasks with accuracy, possess good IT skills and have a strong customer service focus. You will have excellent communication skills.
