Responsibilities
Reporting to the Course Director, IHTM, we are seeking an internationally recognised expert in Bioethics and Global Health Ethics & Governance to lead and develop a dynamic programme of research, teaching, and academic leadership. In this role, you will manage specialist grant‑funded research projects and provide operational leadership for an active research group. Acting as Principal Investigator on a major international Research Award, you will lead and support a multidisciplinary team, setting clear objectives, fostering productive collaborations, and line‑managing team members through induction, appraisal, mentoring, and professional development. The role also includes significant contributions to postgraduate teaching within the MSc IHTM programme. You will design, coordinate, and deliver the Ethics and Governance module, contribute ethics teaching across other modules, supervise research placements, and play a key role in ongoing curriculum development and enhancement. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious academic leader with a strong international profile, a proven track record in research leadership and funding, and a passion for advancing ethics and governance in global health.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil and bring substantial post‑qualification experience in both research and postgraduate teaching within the field. You will demonstrate deep specialist knowledge and an established international reputation, supported by a strong publication record and active engagement with current research. You will also have proven experience leading and motivating research teams, managing research budgets, and securing competitive grant funding through successful applications, alongside the ability to develop and deliver high‑quality postgraduate teaching, contribute to curriculum development, and foster an inclusive and collaborative academic environment.

This position is offered part‑time (0.4FTE) on a fixed‑term contract for 3 years.
