Salary £34,866 to £46,485 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Reporting to the Head of Trusted Research, the role holder will work across a number of governance frameworks carrying out regular reviews and checks, identifying and reporting potential risks, and proposing corrective action measures where appropriate. Working closely with and supporting the Trusted Research team in the implementation and management of a cohesive risk, compliance and assurance framework, assisting in the gathering of information internally and externally, and performing regular administrative tasks and maintaining the management systems of ongoing projects.

The role holder will provide support and guidance to staff across the research community and will contribute to the development of training and guidance material, continual improvement to processes and procedures, to ensure the team provides an effective and supportive assurance framework across our research portfolio.

This is a full-time position within a small, friendly team but part of a wider Research Operations directorate. A hybrid working arrangement is offered with a blended approach of home and office working each week. The University offers a generous holiday entitlement plus standard bank holidays and five university closure days including closure between Christmas and New Year.

This post requires an individual capable of working on their own initiative, and as part of a broader team, often to tight deadlines. The Trusted Research Officer needs to be sensitive to cultural and international political issues associated with the context of work undertaken. This is a challenging and rewarding role, and the successful candidate will work with a broad range of colleagues from across the University, gaining a unique insight into the University’s research portfolio.

The post is offered on a full-time (36.25 hours per week), fixed-term contract until 01 February 2026. Job share arrangements may also be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
