Training & Scientific Officer

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward‑thinking, vibrant team at a top‑ranking Russell Group University. The role involves acting as the Named Training and Competency Officer (NTCO) and leading the delivery of the institutional in‑vivo training and competency framework. It requires experience in biomedical research, training and education, and a strong commitment to the ‘3Rs’ and animal welfare.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and lead the in‑vivo training and competency framework.
• Promote a culture of care and the principles of the ‘3Rs’ with a focus on experimental support and design.
• Ensure compliance with the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 and other regulatory frameworks such as VSA and AWA 2006.
• Provide stakeholder engagement, support high scientific and welfare standards, and uphold processes and routines.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in the biomedical research sector, with knowledge of named role responsibilities.
• Track record of excellence in research delivery and commitment to a culture of care.
• Strong commitment and enthusiasm for stakeholder engagement.

Benefits & Working Conditions

Full‑time, permanent position based in the Bio‑Support Unit at University Park.

Salary: £45,413 to £57,422 per annum pro‑rata, depending on skills and experience, with progression subject to performance.
