The purpose of this role is to work on the project \”The Cultural Legacies of the British Empire: Classical Music’s Colonial History\” at the University of Nottingham in the School of Humanities, Department of Music. The successful candidate will engage in research (especially searching historical newspapers), organise workshops, conferences and other public-facing events, construct bibliographies, prepare outputs for publication, conduct data gathering and data entry, and contribute to the development of teaching resources and digital resources. The role involves part-time work (0.4 fte, 14.5 hours per week) on a fixed‑term basis for 12 months commencing 1 June 2026. The candidate will meet regularly remotely and/or in-person with their line manager and will have the opportunity to use initiative and creativity to support public engagement and knowledge exchange.

Applications are welcomed from individuals with a degree or equivalent experience in music or history, particularly with interests in eighteenth‑and nineteenth‑century music, colonial and imperial history within the context of the British Empire, or music education.
