Responsibilities:
- Support the principal investigator (Prof. Kostas Tsintzas) in conducting research on a BBSRC funded project aiming to characterise rhythmicity in human skeletal muscle metabolism.
- Responsible for the day-to-day running of the programme of work as part of Prof Tsintzas’ research team in the Division of Physiology, Pharmacology and Neuroscience.
- Use analytical biochemical and molecular biology techniques and write up work to contribute to published outcomes.
Qualifications:
- PhD (or equivalent) or near to completion of a PhD in metabolic and molecular physiology, biochemistry or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable evidence of research experience in tissue metabolism and specialist skills in liquid chromatography–coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-MS), real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), western blotting, and spectrophotometry.
- Experience in biochemical enzyme radioimmunoassays is desirable.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and relevant regulations applying to handling human tissues and ensuring a safe working laboratory environment.
