Salary
£29,740 to £36,446 per annum (pro‑rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience.

Role Summary
The Head of Youngstock Rearing (fixed term contract until 15 September 2027) oversees the Youngstock department, managing two direct reports and the care and welfare of animals from birth to first calving, with occasional work on adult cattle.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Youngstock department and supervise a team of two staff.
- Ensure the welfare of animals from birth to first calving and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all calf buildings.
- Contribute to the running of the farm, including animal husbandry, machinery operations (telehandlers, farm vehicles, tractors), animal handling and care.
- Maintain accurate records and support overall farm operations.
- Adhere to safety and animal welfare standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of two A‑Levels in relevant subjects or equivalent vocational qualifications with relevant experience.
- Proven experience in a related role in animal husbandry or dairy farming.
- Full, current driving licence and experience operating farm vehicles.
- Excellent organisational and record‑keeping skills.
- Strong stock‑management, team‑working and animal‑welfare focus.
Work Pattern
Minimum 36.25 hours per week plus overtime paid at 1.5× for hours over 36.25, and 2× for bank holidays and university closure days. The farm operates on a 10 on 4 off rota; weekend work is expected. Early mornings and some evenings are required.
