The newly founded centre, Great British Chemicals, co‑led by the University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham and Newcastle University, is looking for an executive assistant to support Nottingham’s GBC lead and Principal Investigator Professor Mike George, based in the School of Chemistry. The team is looking for a proactive and highly organised executive assistant to support coordinating activities between Professor Mike George and partners to ensure good communication and delivery of research projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide essential administrative and financial support to the Principal Investigator and project team.
- Manage schedules, prepare reports, and assist with document preparation for the Principal Investigator.
- Organise logistics including travel bookings for Professor George and other members of the research group, as well as booking venues, sending agendas, and managing meeting reminders.
- Support communication with external stakeholders, gather and summarise feedback from project partners in response to requests and follow up with partners to ensure timely and complete responses.
- Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant systems and processes.
This is a part‑time position, with working hours 18 hours per week for a fixed term ending 31st July 2032. The role is available to start immediately.
Qualifications
- Good working knowledge of the use of Microsoft Office packages including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent customer service skills, with experience of responding efficiently and effectively to in‑person, phone, and email enquiries from a range of partners.
- Experience of developing and maintaining a network of contacts throughout own work area.
- Experience of adapting own skills to new circumstances.
- Qualified to A level standard, or equivalent experience in a similar role.
