Responsibilities
- Assess the practical requirements and study needs of students, both current and potential, in order to make recommendations concerning reasonable adjustments to Academic Schools and Departments.
- Provide information and advice concerning all aspects of accessibility provision to potential students prior to their admission to University and contribute to University pre‑arrival information.
- Liaise with Academic Schools to communicate adjustments and advise on complex individual cases, in consultation with the role holder’s line manager.
- Advise students on accessing Disabled Students' Allowances.
- Keep careful records of actions, agreements and decisions in accordance with procedures.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of disabilities and their impact upon study in Higher Education.
- A degree, plus some hands‑on experience in similar or related roles or a proven track record of extensive relevant work experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical knowledge of a specific or specialised field of work.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good IT skills, with some knowledge of assistive technology.
- Ability to work appropriately with sensitive information, following established procedures.
- Ability to prioritise and effectively plan a busy workload, with minimum day‑to‑day supervision.
