Clinical Assistant Professor – NIHR Clinical Lecturer (Fixed-Term)

Applications are invited from medically-qualified doctors who seek integrated academic and clinical training for a clinical academic career. A post is available in competition with applications from the following areas:

• Clinical Radiology
• General Psychiatry
• Old Age Psychiatry

Interviews will be held on 15th December 2025. The post will be offered on a fixed‑term contract for a period of up to 4 years if full‑time (up to a maximum of 6 years part‑time, pro‑rata) or until award of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), whichever is the shorter. Hours of work are full‑time or part‑time (minimum 0.6 FTE). Successful applicants must be in post before 31 August 2026.

Salary

£38,831 to £73,992 per annum pro‑rata depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Responsibilities

• Receive training in the latest state‑of‑the‑art techniques to improve health and well‑being.
• Develop and run an individual, innovative and novel research programme leading to peer‑reviewed publications and research funding applications.
• Work with internationally acclaimed research groups within the University of Nottingham’s School of Medicine.
• Meet the expectations of a clinical academic career, balancing teaching, clinical duties and research.

Qualifications

• GMC registered with a recognised licence to practice.
• Higher research degree (PhD or MD by research or equivalent).
• Fulfil all essential criteria on the appropriate person specification.

Employment Terms

Fixed‑term contract up to 4 years (full‑time); up to 6 years (part‑time, pro‑rata) or until CCT, whichever is shorter. Full‑time commitments required for the usual duties of a Clinical Assistant Professor.
