Nottingham University Business School is seeking to appoint an experienced academic leader as Associate Professor in Accounting (Teaching Focused) and UG Accountancy Course Director. This role is funded and supported by a longstanding partnership with PwC, providing dedicated funding for the programme and creating exceptional opportunities for student development, professional engagement and curriculum innovation.

As Course Director, you will provide leadership for the BSc Accountancy programme, working closely with academic colleagues, students, PwC and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). You will oversee curriculum development, student experience, quality assurance, professional accreditation and programme enhancement, ensuring the programme continues to meet the needs of students, the profession and industry. You will contribute to teaching and curriculum leadership across accounting, including the delivery and assessment of ICAEW-accredited taxation modules such as Principles of Taxation, Tax Compliance and Business Planning: Taxation. You will also represent the School within national and international academic and professional networks, building strong relationships with key stakeholders.

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • A strong record of excellence in undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching.
  • Experience of curriculum design, innovation and programme leadership in higher education.
  • The ability to teach ICAEW-accredited professional taxation modules and develop professional-level assessments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills, including experience of supporting and developing colleagues.
  • A full professional accounting qualification (ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS or Chartered Accountants Ireland).
  • A relevant PhD and/or a recognised higher education teaching qualification, professional recognition aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), or equivalent experience.
