About The Department: The Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China is a dynamic and rapidly growing department offering BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering (2+2, 4+0), BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering (2+2, 4+0) and BEng (Hons) Product Design and Manufacture (2+2, 4+0). It has strong links with the UK and Malaysia campuses and works closely with Chinese and international industry partners.
Role Summary: The department seeks exceptional scholars to join as Associate or Full Professors in Mechanical Engineering, with appointment as Head of Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership in research and teaching within Mechanical Engineering and/or Aerospace Engineering.
- Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
- Lead research strategy and secure competitive funding.
- Contribute to departmental strategic initiatives and academic leadership.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace Engineering, or Materials Engineering.
- Extensive research track record with publications in leading peer‑reviewed journals.
- Ability to secure competitive funding and recognised reputation in the international academic community.
- Demonstrated experience in programme direction and innovative pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning.
Benefits and Compensation:
Fixed‑term contract up to 5 years, with HOD appointment up to 4 years, both may be extended by mutual agreement. The package includes accommodation allowance, travel allowance, insurance, and other Chinese talent schemes support based on eligibility.
