The Corporate Finance team seeks an Assistant Financial Accountant for a 6-month fixed term contract. You will provide day-to-day support to the financial accountants and the Head of Corporate Finance, at an operational and project level. You will develop your technical accounting knowledge as we complete financial statements and other regulatory returns, and your business partnering experience will deliver financial results to internal customers, focusing on the group level results.

What you will be doing:

  • You will be a key part of our group reporting processes. When you join, you will help us finalise our financial statements and be a key point of contact for external auditors.
  • You will coordinate the Office for Students (OfS) return, compiling information requests to other colleagues and departments. Draft and check this and other regulatory returns during the year for review by the Head of Finance.
  • You will be a key contributor to a range of process improvement and team development projects.

  • You have significant relevant experience, or you are a qualified accountant.

We are the Corporate Finance team, a small team that sits within a much larger Financial Control and Financial Management team. We are a busy, diverse and vibrant team, looking after month-end and year-end processes, financial reporting, audit and regulatory returns, cash and treasury management and the setup of the university’s finance systems.
