The role will see you:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day delivery of Health & Safety support services, ensuring a high-quality, customer-focused and compliant service.
  • Provide leadership and line management to Health & Safety administrative support staff, supporting performance, development and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee coordination of Health & Safety and Fire Safety programmes and activities delivered by the team
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of key Health & Safety systems (e.g. IRS, CSC, SafeZone)
  • Act as a key liaison with system providers, DTS, and stakeholders for system enhancements and dealing with system failures and ensuring they are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Produce and present management information and performance reports from existing systems to the Health & Safety team and key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement improvements to systems, processes, and reporting functionality
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, around the University and within the Health & Safety team.

The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the delivery of Health & Safety and Fire Safety services across the University's UK campuses. Working closely with Health & Safety colleagues, academic and professional service departments, and key stakeholders, you will help ensure the department delivers an efficient, customer-focused and continuously improving service that supports the University's strategic and statutory objectives.

Reporting to the Head of Health & Safety, you will be responsible for overseeing operational performance, service delivery, systems management and process improvement activities. The role provides an exciting opportunity to influence service development, lead change initiatives, and support a broad range of Health & Safety activities across a large and complex organisation.

The successful applicant will be based at Lenton Hurst on University Park. However, there may be an expectation to travel occasionally between University campuses and sites as required. The University operates a hybrid working policy, allowing colleagues to work flexibly between home and campus locations, subject to operational requirements and agreement with their line manager.

This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week), permanent position, however part time hours will be considered. Informal enquiries may be addressed to Timothy McGill, Head of Health & Safety, at timothy.mcgill@nottingham.ac.uk.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
