About the role / team
We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and hardworking people who have a keen eye for detail, excellent customer service skills, and who enjoy working in a fast‑paced catering environment. Working within a Halls of Residence Catering Unit at University Park you will be responsible for serving customers, operating tills, supporting general cleaning—including the dishwash/potwash area—and adhering to all food safety and health and safety regulations, standards, policies, procedures, and codes of practice.
As a member of our team you will maintain a positive approach, be a colleague that others look forward to working with, and build strong relationships to accomplish shared goals. You will pursue exceptional operational standards, particularly during busy service times.
Available Positions
- Weekend Split Shift – 10 hours per week (2 days, mainly Saturday and Sunday). Working between 11:00–13:30 and 17:00–19:30, for 30½ or 34 working weeks of the year on a permanent fractional contract. Rota calendar attached. Flexibility required; both shifts must be worked both days.
- Monday to Friday Dinner – 15 hours per week (5 days, mainly Monday‑Friday). Working between 17:00–20:00 for 30½ working weeks of the year on a permanent fractional contract. Rota calendar attached. Flexibility required.
All staff employed at Levels 1‑3 will be eligible to claim unsocial hours (10 p.m.–6 a.m.) and weekend working enhancements. This payment will take the form of a 15% uplift for any time worked between 10 p.m.–6 a.m. and any hour(s) worked on a Saturday or Sunday.

Successful candidates will be expected to attend statutory training courses and any required refresher training. The department plans training courses throughout the year, with options to attend during a typical week (Monday‑Friday) or set weekend dates (Saturday, Sunday).
