Supporting learning, teaching and research activities across the Faculty, the post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of specialist media facilities, including 2 multicamera TV studios and 3 radio studios. The post holder will provide demonstrations and support across a range of practical modules that encompass single camera production, multi camera TV studio production, audio production, radio and TV broadcasting, postproduction and digital web production. The post holder will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of all the media and journalism specialist spaces, providing guidance through documentation and inductions and through the supervision of students/users. Technician duties will include managing the schedule of maintenance of all equipment and ordering of consumables/equipment.

About You

The post holder will be an experienced technician preferably with experience of the HE sector, with proven experience in a TV or Radio broadcasting environment as well as location shooting skills. It is expected that the post holder will be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite including After Effects, Audition and Premiere Pro. Knowledge of InDesign, Word Press and Newsroom software including ENPS, LiveU and Myriad News is also desirable. The post holder will be able to demonstrate equipment and production workflows to mixed ability groups and support this by engaging with the University’s Virtual Learning Environment. They will work in an agile manner within a multi-disciplinary technical team. An ability to maintain a general overview of health and safety and ensure the use of safe working practices, including conducting risk assessments is essential for this role.

Qualifications

  • Essential: HND/Degree in a media discipline or broadcast/film/TV industry experience
  • Desirable: Professional recognition as an HEA Associate Fellow and/or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or a willingness to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
