The School of Psychology and Behavioural Science is seeking a fixed term maternity coverLecturer in Psychology post. The post will require you to undertake teaching, assessmentand related activities, primarily on our BPS accredited BSc courses as well as our MSc inPsychology Conversion course. The successful applicant will be expected to engage ininterdisciplinary scholarly activities to enhance the impact and profile of the faculty’soutputs.

About you

A good educational background in Psychology is essential for this role, along with a PhD or near completion. Candidates with expertise in Health Psychology and/or Clinical Psychology is a distinct advantage, as well as experience teaching in Higher Education on the BPS core curriculum (Levels 4–7).

Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, and organisational skills are essential, along with proficiency in IT, including visual learning environments and remote teaching platforms. A commitment to delivering a personalized and supportive student learning experience is vital.

Qualifications

Essential;

• Honors Degree qualification or equivalent in Psychology with eligibility for GBC with the British Psychological Society.
• Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months to completion.

Desirable;

• Master’s degree in Developmental Psychology or related discipline
• Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2)or a teaching qualification recognised by HESA,or a willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale.

The School of Psychology and Behavioural Science at the University of Northamptonis a large, collegiate and supportive department with a strong culture of studentfocused teaching and high impact research. We deliver an extensive portfolio ofundergraduate and postgraduate awards and are in a period of growth.

Our current portfolio consists of a suite of BPS accredited undergraduate and postgraduate conversion Psychology courses. Our strengths at postgraduate level lie in the areas of Counselling, Children and Young People and Child and Adolescent Mental Health. We also deliver a range of course for the NHS Children and Young People’s Talking Therapies, externally commissioned by the Department for Health and the Department for Education.
