Primary Purpose of Organization Unit: Under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Facilities, Facilities Management comprises of two departments – Facilities Operations; and Facilities Planning and Construction. The primary mission is delivering required services, financial oversight, and providing a liaison with appropriate Federal, State, and local agencies on matters related to planning, constructing, operating and maintaining the physical campus environment. Facilities Management strives to provide a safe, clean, accessible, and attractive environment which enhances the abilities of academic and administrative departments to provide a personalized education experience.
Primary Purpose of Position & Responsibilities: Provide institutional support for state agencies and universities in building environmental services and groundskeeping. Employees maintain and clean grounds around athletic fields, dormitories, offices, welcome centers, and other campus buildings, following a daily schedule of tasks. Work is supervised, and special assignments or problems not covered by instructions are referred to a supervisor. Duties include physically strenuous activities such as moving heavy equipment and delivering large quantities of supplies, performing routine and repetitive tasks that may require strenuous physical exertion. The position also covers short staff situations and provides event coverage during and outside normal campus business hours.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications: Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions, and to perform medium to heavy physical work, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 3 to 12 months of directly related experience. Physical fitness sufficient to perform strenuous physical exertion.
Management Preference: 3 to 12 months of directly related experience.
