Job Summary: Monitors, provides access and analyses threats to cyber security data and systems to ensure the safety and protection of information system assets. May also facilitate cybersecurity training.
Job Description: Monitors daily system operations using intrusion detection and prevention systems and assesses findings. Reports application security concerns and escalates security incidents to senior staff. Receives, processes and implements security change requests including privilege access. Conducts vulnerability-scanning analysis, tests security controls and suggests procedures to prevent future incidents. Facilitates security awareness training. Maintains risk standards and programs to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and university requirements. Interprets policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
- Reviews appropriate resource scan results and incoming report data to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
- Detects and mitigates potential phishing campaigns and malicious scams/sites.
- Represents the department at appropriate security meetings, conferences, and seminars.
- Responds to audits, surveys, and other inquiries concerning information security.
- Assists with developing reports for general security incident tracking.
- Provides guidance that aligns with information security best practices and UM policy.
- Logs requests, actions taken, and responses in a tracking system.
- Stays abreast of current information security developments and recommendations.
