Applications to this posting will be considered for openings in the following areas:

  • Primary Care (Adult, Pediatric, and Geriatric populations) and other clinically-based outpatient services
  • Specialty Pediatrics

Responsibilities:

  • Room patients and perform standard patient intake including vitals
  • Assist with minor clinical office procedures
  • Perform standard medical laboratory/Point of Care (POC) testing
  • Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed
  • Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures
  • Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies
  • May complete general administrative duties as assigned including; Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Disability and Return to Work forms, Electronic Medical Record in-basket messages, etc.
  • Complete other clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program OR current enrollment in, or completion of coursework in a healthcare professional program (e.g., medical school, PA program, nursing program, or related clinical training) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience (1 - 3 years)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical workflows, patient care, and basic medical terminology

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA)
  • Experience working within a large complex health care setting
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records system

Work Schedule:

Full Time hours, 40 hours per week, weekday schedule will vary depending on location/clinic. May be occasional weekends.

Modes of Work:

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
