Responsibilities Could Include:

  • Room patients and perform standard patient intake including vitals
  • Assist with minor clinical office procedures
  • Perform standard medical laboratory/Point of Care (POC) testing
  • Administer medications/immunizations, injections as directed
  • Respond to general patient inquiries regarding treatment and clinic policies and procedures
  • Coordinate patient care with outside health agencies
  • May complete general administrative duties as assigned, including: Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Disability and Return to Work forms, Electronic Medical Record in‑basket messages, etc.
  • Complete other clinical and non‑clinical duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of patient‑care related education and patient‑care experience
  • 0‑1 years of patient care experience for an Assistant level
  • 1‑3 years of patient care experience for an Associate level
  • Knowledge of basic Medical Terminology
  • Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patient

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or (RMA)
  • Experience working within a large complex outpatient health care setting
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records system

Work Schedule: Full Time hours, 40 hours per week, weekday schedule will vary depending on location/clinic. May be occasional weekends.

Work Locations: Brighton and Surrounding Medical Group/Health Center Locations

Modes of Work: Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.

Union Affiliation: This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U‑M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
