University of Maryland Global Campus in Europe (UMGC), a globally focused university serving over 90,000 students worldwide, is seeking experienced faculty to travel and teach America’s soldiers, marines, airmen and sailors, and their family members in degree programs at U.S. military installations in Europe and Asia. This full‑time faculty position offers a twelve‑month renewable contract and requires travel and relocation within the assigned region.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Faculty will teach a minimum of two class sections per session in on‑base education centers that follow UMGC’s 8‑week, 5‑session academic calendar.
- Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed and conveys genuine enthusiasm for learning.
- Guide students in active collaboration and application of their learning in problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
- Provide rich, constructive feedback using rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledge student accomplishments.
- Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
- Flexibly teach in any classroom modality (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, or live streaming) as required.
- Participate in peer mentorship, committee service, curriculum development, and community engagement activities such as UMGC Presents, education fairs, and community service.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must possess a minimum of a master’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution; a doctoral degree is preferred.
- Recent college‑level teaching experience and, ideally, teaching approvals in multiple disciplines are required.
- All positions require U.S. citizenship and eligibility for individual logistical support in host countries.
- Candidates must pass a Department of Defense medical/dental screening, background check, and meet the individual logistic support (ILS) requirements.
- Preference will be given to candidates with academic and professional experience in more than one discipline.
