The predicted salary is between 55000 - 65000 £ per year.

Reporting to the IT Security Manager, the post holder will be responsible for identification, mitigation, response and reporting on cyber security incidents, as part of a small IT Security Team, which will include some out of hours work. You will make a significant contribution to the IT security posture of the University, including the identification and implementation of new protective technologies, maintaining cyber awareness for staff, students and other key stakeholders, and supporting the University’s cloud migration programme. The postholder will also be responsible for vulnerability management for cloud and on-premise systems.

To be considered for this role you must have a good first‑degree standard in a technical discipline or equivalent experience. You will be highly motivated and have substantial experience of providing or supporting IT Services in an IT service environment. You will have extensive experience in resolving security or infrastructure IT incidents. You will be committed to high standards with a patient, level‑headed disposition and the ability to work flexibly and persevere under pressure.

With reference to technical knowledge and skills, you will have extensive knowledge of security infrastructure, solutions and operation including penetration testing and network intrusion detection. You will have knowledge of security issues applicable to the following: Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Linux operating systems, network infrastructure, email and cloud technologies. You will have knowledge of IT security issues and vulnerabilities with the ability to adapt to changes and keep up with new technologies using your own initiative.

We operate a hybrid working pattern. Therefore, we are looking for someone that will flourish in these circumstances and develop and grow their understanding of the organisation through building virtual connections. Experience of working in Higher Education is desirable, but not essential.
